Several time options that users can choose from are the fastest 24 hours, seven days, up to 90 days. The update can be activated by users starting Monday.(12/6)

How to activate the missing messages feature or Whatsapp disappearing messages can be done by default for all chats, both individual and group chats.

However, WhatsApp is currently still developing this new feature for group conversations.

Here's how to enable auto-lost messages in individual conversations.

1. Open WhatsApp chat.

2. Tap the contact name.

3. Tap Temporary messages.

4. If prompted, tap CONTINUE.

5. Choose 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days.

Disable the feature

Both the user and the interlocutor can temporarily disable the messaging feature at any time.

Once disabled, new messages sent in chat will no longer be automatically lost. Here's how.

1. Open WhatsApp chat.

2. Tap the contact name.

3. Tap Temporary messages.

4. If prompted, tap CONTINUE.

5. Select Off.

If the user has turned on the feature, the message will be sure to disappear automatically according to the selected time.

The disappearing messages feature on WhatsApp was first launched in November last year. But previously users only had the option to delete messages after seven days.

This feature itself can be used in private or group chats. However, specifically for group chats, the admin of the group can set the admin to be the only one who can activate this feature.
